Judy’s Story
Judy Cho, FMP, BCHN, FNTP
Founder of Wholeness Method
- Degree in Psychology from the UC Berkeley
- Functional Medicine Practitioner
- Board-Certified in Holistic Nutrition
- HeartMath® Certified Practitioner
- Dynamic Neural Retraining System Trained
Judy Cho is the founder of Wholeness Method, a mind-body program shaped by both her clinical expertise and her own journey through suffering and healing.
For decades, Judy struggled with a crippling eating disorder, deep depression, and eventually a severe psychotic break that left her hospitalized on a 5150 hold against her will.
It was through discovering the power of nutrition, nervous system regulation, neuroplasticity, and somatic practices that Judy found the missing link to her own recovery.
In her clinical work, Judy began noticing the same pattern: chronically ill patients were living in a constant fight or-flight state. Many had seen countless providers, lost trust in the system, and were exhausted by retelling their story. They needed a safe, structured way to regulate their nervous system and finally move forward.
This is why Judy created the Wholeness Method. The program combines evidence- based tools like HeartMath® and Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNRS) with somatic exercises, cognitive and dialectical-behavioral therapies (CBT, DBT), brain retraining, and lifestyle practices. Together, these help calm the body, rewire the brain, and create lasting healing.
Judy also leads Empower Functional Health, where she and her team provide functional medicine and holistic nutrition support worldwide.
Today, Judy shares openly how mind–body healing transformed her own life and the lives of her patients. She believes that true wholeness comes when we no longer live at war within ourselves, and when the mind, body, and spirit are anchored, renewed, and transformed together.

What I’ve Seen in My Clients and Why Wholeness Method Is Necessary
Over the years, I’ve worked with thousands of clients facing chronic illness, trauma, and long-standing health challenges. What I’ve consistently seen is that healing stalls when the nervous system is dysregulated. You can take the right supplements, eat the right meats, and follow the best protocols, but if your body is locked in fight-or-flight, it won’t fully heal.
When the nervous system is stuck in survival mode, even the world around you looks different. The way you see the world becomes the way you live in the world. A stressed, fearful brain looks for more stress and fear, creating a cycle that keeps people sick, overwhelmed, and hopeless. (Thanks a lot, reticular activating system)
That’s why the Wholeness Method is so important. It addresses this missing piece: regulation. By anchoring safety in the body, renewing thought patterns and core beliefs, and transforming how we show up in daily life, clients finally experience root-cause healing.
Clients break free of the survival state and step into a life of resilience and hope.

It’s healing because it feels so right and it feels so good to just see myself in a different light. I’m showing up every day in my relationship with myself in a whole healed way that I never thought possible.
The community here, everybody, not just the coaches but everybody has been—when you feel so isolated and alone and everybody thinks you’re a hypochondriac, to see the people here that share their vulnerability and their raw pain was just such a gift. Everybody that shares has a nugget. And that has been the biggest thing, and I’ve made some relationships here that I know will continue ...
The community here, everybody, not just the coaches but everybody has been—when you feel so isolated and alone and everybody thinks you’re a hypochondriac, to see the people here that share their vulnerability and their raw pain was just such a gift. Everybody that shares has a nugget. And that has been the biggest thing, and I’ve made some relationships here that I know will continue on. People that are on the journey, you know? Because nobody else I know wants to do the work. They’re just like, “Let’s flee. Let’s not deal with any of this,” you know? So I’m very, very grateful. I have love for myself that I have never been able to drum up or was able to make happen, but I was doing the heart breathing. I had to write a forgiveness letter for somebody; I had to write one for myself. There’s a lot of shame from my past. And then it shifted. It was major. And it’s like Scott said, “I’m a new person.”
I’m showing up every day in my relationship with myself in a whole healed way that I never thought possible, and I have my things. When I get a little stressed, I do my box breathing, and I love the tapping because I’m releasing the negative lies, the deception, the labels that were given me, and I speak truth after I release it all, and then I do the BRH, and I’m just speaking positive, life-giving things over myself. And that’s huge for me because I’ve done all the trauma work, I’ve done all the work, but this was something I couldn’t drum up. It’s a healing because it feels so right and it feels so good to just see myself in a different light, that I’m showing up as a different person. So I’m just really grateful for everybody on here. It’s been really rich for me and I know confidently that I will continue to move forward and keep this as part of what I do during the day. So I thank everybody because it’s made a huge difference. Feeling safe with these people that share, and everybody knowing that Bianca and Cheryl and you and everybody has something to offer that gets you through the rough days. So, I’m grateful. Very, very grateful.

I’ve never felt so seen so validated and supported like I have with the Wholeness Method

Hey, my name is Chase and I was a member of Cohort 1 of the Maiden Voyage and let me tell you it was one of the best investments I’ve ever made in my health. I got diagnosed with CIRS back in 2023 and I started treatment. I was following the shoemaker protocol so I was taking care of my body but I knew the missing component to my treatment plan was taking care of my brain and you know there’s so many different limbic retraining programs out there it was a little bit overwhelming confusing and I really couldn’t find one that I connected with so when Judy announced that she was launching her mind body program I knew that’s the one that’s the answer I’ve been waiting for because I know that the information is not only coming from a place I can trust but it’s coming from a place of compassion and love and I knew that the information would be relatable and easy to digest just like all of her content is and I was right.
You know not only was the program extremely helpful in teaching me how to you know rewire my brain and the importance of doing that as I heal but the support I received just blew me away. I’ve been a part of many online support groups over the years but I’ve never felt so seen so validated and supported like I have with the mind body program from the amazing knowledgeable team to the awesome group members and the community features and just this I really feel like I was part of a of an online community we just supported each other the group calls were amazing I always came away from those just feeling uplifted and empowered and the resource library oh my gosh it’s fantastic I mean you’re not going to get this many resources you know for this value anywhere I don’t think so honestly I don’t know where I’d be without the mind body group it’s helped me through so many tough times this year and if you’re looking for a comprehensive limbic retraining program to rewire your brain and you’re looking for support and solidarity don’t look any further.

I definitely could tell from the beginning that your guys’ heart was in this.
I think my previous expectation of just like doing the Shoemaker Protocol and life would be strawberries and rainbows kind of thing. But I realize now that it’s much more complicated than that.
I wanted to first say, I thank you all, Judy and all the instructors for all your hard work. I definitely could tell from the beginning that your guys’ heart was in this. So it helped me to make the commitment and to keep going.
I really look forward to utilizing this information because I’m actually going on VIP today. So I’m excited to see if that helps me to do the program in ...

I really look forward to utilizing this information because I’m actually going on VIP today. So I’m excited to see if that helps me to do the program in a better sense.

And a lot of time, I think I’m coming into terms with a lot of fear that I have. So I think that’s been a big thing for me because I have to ask myself the question of like, what am I willing to do in order to heal? And it’s not an absence of resources because as you guys have shown, like the eight weeks of things that you’ve provided, that’s more than enough information to help me. So thanks again for just setting up the program and all the efforts you guys have put in.

I feel so blessed to be able to be in your first cohort.
Being in this group and with the way that you presented it, it really made it come to life and made it really sink in to where I can use these modalities and actually see a difference.

I am a certified health coach, but being in this group and with the way that you presented it, it really made it come to life and made it really sink in to where I can use these modalities and actually see a difference.
I mean, even in the simplest things, coming back from feeding the horses and my boot caught the lip of cement, the porto was coming up and I lost my balance, almost had it saved, and I hit a little slick spot and went down. And my first thought was, I’m just starting to feel better, you know, every time. And it was like, no.
And I remembered Cheryl saying, even if you just say, stop, stop, stop. And I did that. And that thought went away.
And it was like, okay, what do I need to do? You know, fix my knee and yeah, it’s going to be swollen for a day or two, but I’ll be okay. You know, just the simplest of things make such a difference. And I really, really appreciate all the effort and work you’ve put into this and feel so blessed.
It was a long, complicated way that I found you. Okay. And it started with my son saying, I don’t want to lose you. I see you going down every single day, every time I see you. And I don’t want to lose you. I can’t lose you yet.
And he sent me a podcast of Michaela Peterson. And then I researched Michaela Peterson and I found your podcast with Michaela Peterson, where you were her guest. And that’s how I found y’all.
And then I feel so blessed to be able to be in your first cohort. And y’all were amazing. And so easy to understand and just digest all of the material and be able to translate that into our daily lives.
I really appreciate y’all. Love y’all so much. Thank you.
